Merry Christmas!!

Whew, we made it to the most wonderful time of the year!!!!

Though it was not the year we hoped for, we are blessed the OPEN sign still hangs on our door.

Our prayer is for HOPE , LOVE , and PEACE , and BLESSINGS for you that will never cease.

We plan on taking a break from the grind, and letting our wonderful gang unwind.

Here is the plan that works the best, so that we can all get a really great rest.

December 23rd will be a half day. Closing at noon is what the Bosses say.

Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. And the following week will be the same.

December 30th will be a half day. Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

January 4th is a brand-new year, and we sure are glad 2021 is here.

Our first blog back is not very exciting, unless you love the Fourth of July (which our dogs DO NOT)! LOL

Paul and I would like to take a few minutes and thank everyone who has made our business successful.

We can honestly say, that these 6 people are the true meaning of the word “team”. Ryan Powell is a true leader and has driven PLSCT to new heights alongside his “team” members.

Our office girls… “The Amanda’s” are the best that you can get. Paul often says, “That’s my Amanda’s and NO you can’t have them.” They are well versed when it comes to our products and professionally handle all our customer’s needs. Oh, and man are they organized! Don’t touch anything in “THEIR” office without permission or you might lose a finger (we do have a lot of sharp objects here)! Lol!!!

Now on to the manufacturing floor… Jeff is the best “PRESENT” Paul and I could have ever received. He is an amazing programmer and is dedicated to producing first-class solid carbide cutting tools. Jeff has also helped Ryan train Aaron, who is our newest team member. Aaron is our NP5 rough-in specialist, and let’s just say he’s amazing! We now have 6 CNC machines on our floor. Together, Ryan, Jeff, and Aaron produce thousands of tools weekly. Between the 3 of them we are able to run 7 days a week. Their dedication to PLSCT and Paul and I is truly a blessing.

Travis, he is the catch all guy. He does most of our manual grinding when needed. Also, he is responsible for all the building maintenance inside and out. Everyone needs a jack of all trades!

Paul and I can’t thank our “Team” enough!!!!

Our Wonderful Customers… it’s obvious that without you, PLSCT would not be successful. Hats off to you!!! Thank you so much for your continued business!

Our fabulous Vendors… including our Banker (CNB-Robert Wrozek), Attorney (Steve Makulski), and all our family and friends. Your help and support is very much appreciated.

Our guys got out last Friday for a fun day of golf at the Grass Lake Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Outing!

This is the third year that PLSCT has sponsored this outing and sent a team to play.

We are able to live and work in this great country, and enjoy the freedoms that we have because of the men and women who fought for them! Some of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice! While we hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend with their friends and family, we also encourage everyone to take some time this weekend to reflect on and remember those who lost their lives fighting to keep us safe. Their sacrifice was NOT in vain and they will NEVER be forgotten!!

This is what hit our manufacturing floor this week. PLSCT is so excited, a BRAND NEW Rollomatic was delivered and the set up process has begun! This makes a total of 6 Finishing Machines now on our floor. This will have a huge impact on our capacity to serve our customers better.

Wow, what a year! 2018 proved to be an amazing and busy year for P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling. Our VP Ryan's Motto "#nobaddays" has truly made an impact on our team. Paul and Ryan bring a positive attitude to the table daily and it is incredible what happens when you have this mindset. 2018 was the onset of some really cool things happening for PLSCT. Thanksgiving is a time of year that reminds us how blessed and thankful we are for everything that we have. Most people get together with family, enjoy a wonderful meal, a lot of laughs, and of course football!

I sometimes think about the tons of people that are alone or can’t afford a meal and wonder what goes through their minds at this time of year. Is it just another day for them??? My prayer is that not one person would go hungry this year. I know that I alone can’t possibly make that happen, but maybe, just maybe, if we all join together we can! A donation to a homeless shelter or soup kitchen in your own area can bring us one step closer to accomplishing this, even if it is just for this one meal.

Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in your everyday routines and tasks and we forget to take the time to enjoy and be thankful. I myself have a ton of things to be thankful for, way too many to list! But, I will say being part of P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling has been one of the biggest blessings in my life.

Paul and I, along with our employees at P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling would like to take this opportunity to again thank our customers and vendors for their loyalty and for supporting us over these past 4 years. We have had such an amazing journey!

P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling had the opportunity to explore the IMTS show as a group this year. We are trying to give our employees the knowledge and cutting edge technology to be able to perform their jobs better, while manufacturing top notch Carbide Tooling.

It was an eye opening experience for all of us to see how enormous this industry is... from small garage type businesses to over the top huge companies!

If you haven’t had the opportunity or the time to explore this manufacturing show, I would recommend it to all in every area of our industry.

We gathered information regarding new CNC equipment, measuring equipment, and mist collection systems which are on our wish list!

P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling is excited about our industry and can’t wait to see what the next IMTS show has to offer. Hope to run into you there!!!!! :0)

Wow!!! What a ride these last 4 years have been! Of course, there have been ups and downs like with any business, but overall it has been fantastic!

PLSCT has wonderful employees, customers, and vendors. As for my employees… my staff impresses me on a daily basis. They have been the driving force of P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling. I cannot express enough how truly blessed and thankful I am for all of them. I appreciate all of their hard work and efforts, with only 8 employees (including myself) everyone has to be on point to accomplish what P.L. Schmitt Carbide Tooling has these last 4 years!

Our President, Paul Schmitt, and our Vice-President, Ryan Powell, attended the USCTI (United States Cutting Tool Institute) conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico!! One of the best things PLSCT has ever done was join this wonderful organization. We strongly encourage everyone in our industry to explore involvement in this group! USCTI Website

The conference is not all business... the guys had quite a bit of fun as well! Ryan and Paul both golfed and went on an Off-Road Jeep Tour. Paul also went White Water Rafting... Check out this pic!!!

Paul and Ryan aren't the only ones having fun though... our Facilities Manager, Travis Powell, won a bowling tournament a few weeks ago!!

In the past few weeks, we at PLSCT have received several emails and phone calls regarding our past blog post about David White. He is continuing to be a threat to anyone who allows orders to be placed via website or through emails. So, be aware and very cautious with people who are placing orders with you. Be sure to verify all information regarding your customers!

Technology is so amazing and allows us to do so much, but it does come with its downfalls.

We need to stick together and use technology for good!

Bentley the PLSCT Office Dog!!

I know some of you have met Bentley, our office dog. But, many of our customers, vendors, and friends have not, so I am going to introduce you!!

Bentley is a 1 year old Golden Retriever who comes to work with his dad (Ryan) almost every day. He is a big sweetheart and we love to have him around.

Did I mention he is a bit of a beggar? This picture was taken today at lunch. Don't worry, I didn't give in to his begging... much;)

If you are ever in the area, Bentley would love to meet you! And he will be sure to show you where the box of treats is so that you can spoil him a bit:)

Last week I wrote a blog post detailing our Single Flute Endmills and all of their positive attributes. (If you missed it, be sure to take some time to read it. You won't be disappointed!!) Let me tell you a little bit about PLSCT's Single Flute Endmills!

Our Single Flute Endmill is a versatile cutting tool that can be used on many different materials, such as, aluminum, acrylic, plastic, wood, sign foam, and MDF.

This tool is uniquely designed with a special end tooth configuration which allows for a very aggressive drill-type penetration when a new hole or cut is to be started. Also, the helical flute geometry gives a much smoother cut and surface finish while allowing a much higher chip evacuation when milling a groove or trimming an edge.

We manufacture our Single Flute Endmills with high quality, micro grain tungsten carbide, which gives them a transverse rupture strength in excess of 500,000 psi! The combination of the high quality, micro grain tungsten carbide and the special end tooth design gives this tool superb strength and life to the corner and cutting edges.

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost upon us again! PLSCT has so much to be thankful for this year... We have the best customers EVER, we are lucky to work with some pretty great vendors, and we are blessed to have such a tight knit group of employees that we all consider each other family!!

Now, in order for our employees to be able to enjoy Thanksgiving and spend some quality time with their friends and family, we will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th. Beware Of Scammers!!!

We all hear stories about scams and business deals gone wrong. But, until it happens to us we tend to scan the news and move on. Well, PLSCT wants to make our fellow carbide tool manufacturers aware of a scammer that recently contacted us for tooling.

We were recently contacted by a man in Germany named David White from a company called Titan. He was interested in purchasing a large amount of tooling from us, but as the business deal progressed it became apparent that this man was not doing things legally on his end.

Due to the intuition and fast thinking of our office manager, Amanda Jo, we were able to get out of the deal without any loss, but it was close and we certainly do not want that to happen to anyone else!

Thank you in advance for spreading this far and wide! We need to look out for our fellow manufacturers so that we can all continue to be successful!

Halloween is just a few days away and PLSCT wants to wish everyone a safe and fun day/night of trick or treating!! We especially hope that your Halloween is filled with "Pumpkins with Attitude"!! :)

All of us here are looking forward to handing out candy, trick or treating with the kids, and swiping some candy for ourselves (my favorite part)!!

One final thought... do you still have pumpkins to carve? I bet the PLSCT endmills and engravers that you have on hand would work well for that! ;) Like I said, just a thought!
